I was just wondering do they make ballroom dance shoes u can wear to a....?

Club??? Im gona strat takin salsa classes, and if I want to go practice at a club.. well u know people drink drinks to the dance floor and spill it everywhere. Do they make some kind of special salsa or ballroom shoes for this, that u can easily clean??? Especially if its not suede on the bottom?? I just wondered. If not then what could I wear???

I was just wondering do they make ballroom dance shoes u can wear to a....?
Spilled drinks ruin the soles of dance shoes. Most ballroom dance shoes have suede soles, and that is a problem. If suede gets wet, it takes a long time to rehabilitate.

I would suggest shoes with the hard leather sole. They won%26#039;t get damaged like suede soled shoes.

I won%26#039;t go so far as to suggest character shoes (which are relatively inexpensive but have leather soles), however, if you are going to a club to dance, you want to wear something stylish. If you find that leather soled shoes are too expensive for your budget, have a shoe repair shop glue leather soles onto your existing shoes.
Reply:Hey, I tried searching for you, but it proves to be difficult even for me. Leather sole is unusual for ballroom shoes. I think your best option is to call several dance shoe stores and ask them this question. They deal with shoes for years on the regular basis. Try this store: http://bdsweb.ballroom.com/BDSMall.htm

His website isn%26#039;t that great but I%26#039;ve been to his store (local to my area). He carries a lot of salsa and tango shoes, along with typical ballroom shoes. Give him a call and ask if he has anything with leather sole. Here is a couple more stores that I%26#039;ve ordered from:

http://www.ballroomconnection.com

Worldtone Music, NY (look them up with search engine)

These people know a lot about different brands of shoes.

Another option is to get the suede soled shoes and accept the fact that they will get soiled. I wear my old ballroom shoes with suede sole to salsa clubs. I treat them like normal shoes, except I don%26#039;t walk on asphalt and don%26#039;t step in the mud. The sole doesn%26#039;t fall apart or anything, it just gets all shiny, doesn%26#039;t look like suede anymore, and it loses the proper ballroom performance. But since it%26#039;s my old shoes I%26#039;m not going to bring then back to a ballroom studio. To note: I threw away at least 6 pairs of worn out shoes, but none of them had a worn-out sole. It is the upper part that goes first, even after I %26quot;mistreated%26quot; the suede sole at salsa clubs.
Reply:I had suede soled ballroom shoes get trashed in a club, too.

For bar-dancing, stick to a leather (smooth) sole. Pay attention to balance and security. Whatever shoes you dance in should stay securely on your feet -- ankle straps are key in most ballroom shoes. Look at where the heel is positioned -- ballroom shoes have the heel further forward under the foot for stability, and also have a steel shank (under the arch, again for support and stability).

As an alternative, look for ballroom shoes on eBay or elsewhere used, and make this pair %26#039;just%26#039; for club dancing (or reserve your oldest pair). If you can%26#039;t resist and wear %26#039;good%26#039; ballroom shoes to the club, use the wire brush to scrub up the suede later. I%26#039;ve extended the life of my shoes doing this.
Reply:Hey BT--I see you%26#039;re still looking. I%26#039;ll tell you what I told my gf when she started getting interested in dancing. You can buy normal shoes with leather soles. You want something with a back, in my opinion, and with an open toe (not just for style but practically because you%26#039;ll get more blisters dancing in closed-toe shoes). When I went dancing with my gf Friday night, she wore the street shoes we%26#039;d found for her--they were very cute and very sexy, and after like an hour, her toes were pretty much on fire! So now, she%26#039;s looking for a dance shoe....

That said, yes, clubs can ruin the bottom of a suede soled shoe. There are spilled drinks and spilled Lord only knows what on some of those floors. IF you%26#039;re lucky enough to be on a wood floor. A lot of them are concrete, and they will tear up the soles of your shoes also. What I do when I go to a club is just take an old pair of ballroom shoes, I don%26#039;t care about the soles anymore.

The truth is, you won%26#039;t be able to dance in dance shoes and maintain them the way you can ordinary shoes. So if you have that shoe fetish that so many girls have, you just have to resign yourself to messing up your beautiful new dance shoes. To me, the wear and tear on a dance shoe shows how seriously someone takes it--it%26#039;s a great dancer who has a closet full of ruined shoes!

Once you%26#039;re in a typical club, you%26#039;ll find that spilled drinks are the least of your worries. The floor is a minefield, where you may get stepped on (especially by other women in heels, which trust me, really hurts), or an especially fun thing for women dancing in clubs, get hot cigarette ash flicked on your toes (resulting in a typically hilarious impromptu happy dance of your own). So your leather soles will be the least of your worries.

Good luck, then, and may the Force be with you!
Reply:if its a sexy shoe with a heel that you want then look for something that has a strap down the top of the foot. it stabilizes better. in your salsa class, they can point you in the right direction

How do I clean bloch canvas dance shoes?

I have a pair of canvas bloch dance shoes which have started to smell, so I need to clean them. What is the best way to clean them? Also any tips to avoid them smelling in the future?

How do I clean bloch canvas dance shoes?
I wash my daughters (Bloch canvas) shoes without problems, although not as frequently as I would wish! I use 30-40 degree cycle with no pre-wash. I use ecover or sainsbury non bio. No fabric softener.

**Never** dry in a tumble dryer. You can put them in an airing cupboard. Shoes shrink a bit (but will already have stretched as you wear them). Some people say that wearing them when still damp helps to stretch them a bit: we have never needed to do this.

I hang them on the line in the full sun (more natural deodorizing sought). Not much chance of full sun at present ...

Cheers!

Where can I buy ballroom or Latin dance shoes in Chicago?

I am looking for a store where I can physically go in and try on several varieties of ballroom/Latin dance shoes. Willing to commute to the burbs if necessary. I%26#039;ve been to Chicago Dance Supply in Andersonville, but was disappointed with their small selection.

Where can i find ballet dance shoes to wear outside?!?!?!?!?

I REALLY WANT A PAIR OF THE BALLET DANCE SHOES BUT I NEED A VERY VERY VERY SIMILAR VERSION TO IT THAT I CAN WEAR OUTSIDE

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY WEBSITES OR ANYTHING.

LIKE I DONT WANT FLATS I NEED THE BALLET SLIPPER TYPE I CAN WEAR OUTSIDE.

THANKS!

Where can i find ballet dance shoes to wear outside?!?!?!?!?
There are no real ballet shoes that you can wear outside. It would be very bad to wear a pair of ballet shoes outside, they are not meant for that. For instance, they do not support your feet for walking in at all, there is nothing to them and they would probably rip in a heartbeat, if not you will get glass or something through them. What I would do is buy a cute pair of flats that are a very light pink with a bow on them, like this-

http://polo.imageg.net/graphics/product_...

and you can sew elastic across the middle like a ballet shoe to give it the look-

right across the middle:

http://cartwheelfactory.com/gymnastic_sh...

or you can put two elastics criss crossed if you like-

if you want you can even add ribbons!!! -

Reply:well im from canada so im not sure if you have the same stores where your from but these stores seem to carry them up here:

transit

globo

stepss

shoe company

payless

and lest we forget

wal-mart :)

just about any shoe store carries them...at least over here...they seem to be a pretty popular trend so i%26#039;d be surprised if you don%26#039;t find them in your local shoe store
Reply:You usually cant find ballet shoes to wear outside, since they%26#039;re bad for the shoe. You might just have to either buy a pair of flats that look similar to the real shoes or buy a cheap but cute pair of real ballet shoes and make them the shoes you wear outside...

Does it matter how old your dance shoes are?

i have just black dance shoes ( i don%26#039;t really know what they%26#039;re called) but i have been practicing my pirouettes and should i get new shoes cuz mine are like a year old, and does that matter how my turn is?

Does it matter how old your dance shoes are?
idk
Reply:Nope, it doesn%26#039;t matter how old shoes are as long as they work...in the exception of pointe shoes, those need to be changed out after they%26#039;re worn out so the dancer isn%26#039;t injured or anything like that. ^^
Reply:i had a pair of dance shoes for a year and a half, and if my feet didn%26#039;t grow, id still have them. the point is that the age doesn%26#039;t matter. if they are still functional, then they are fine. hope this helps. :)
Reply:Well if your shoes stink then yea it does matter. lol hahaha hehehe sorry that was a stupid answer but seriously... lol
Reply:it doesnt matter how old they are. if you%26#039;ve got the heart and the talent, people wont be looking at your shoes.. they%26#039;ll be looking at you.
Reply:is this like ballet or something? if so...they should be fine unless they have rips in them. They can sometimes affect your turns if they have rips.

Ivory or Champaign ballroom dance shoes?

i am gtting married june 11th and will be wearing an ivory and champagne satin gown. i am 23 but have the feet of an 85 year old. flat as a pancake 2 bunions on each foot and tendon problems. someone reccoemned i wear ballroom dance shoes for the wedding because they are sturdy and well cushioned but still elegant. i cannot for the life of me find ivory or champaign satin blaroom shoes anywhere online, let alone for under 100 dollars. (money is an issue). can someone link me to it? not leather finish. i need satin so i can dye it afterwards.

Ivory or Champaign ballroom dance shoes?
You should buy white satin shoes and have them dyed to Ivory oh Champagne. Satin Ballroom shoes come in 3 basic colors: white, nude (aka flesh) and black. The rest of colors are not generally available, you%26#039;ll have to dye them. It is very easy - you can either do it yourslef or ask the store that sells you the shoes to dye them for you. They charge you extra $10 or somethign like that for the service.

Even if it says Champagne (some brands use it) - call the store and ask how deep or light is the color. Pictures might be lighter or darker than the real shoe.

Try http://www.featherdanceshoes.com Those have really good padding and they are priced moderately by comparison. Don%26#039;t be discouraged if the picture shows nude color shoes. This is just the most popular option, but you can request white shoes. Look specifically at each pair of satin shoes that catches your eye. When you click on it you will see a drop-down menue where you can select the white color.

Another thing - when buying ballroom shoes on-line, be sure you undestand the sizing. Some brands come in British sized (like from the link in the other answer), some use American sizes. British size is your Amrican size minus 2. If you wear American size 8 then you need British size 6. The link I gave you uses American sizes.
Reply:Bingo!

Check these out they are gorgeous!
